行业风向 | Shopee Adds Netflix to Its Subscription Bundle in Thailand

Shopee has launched ShopeeVIP+ as per Shopee Indonesia’s Executive Director, Handhika Jahja’s post on his LinkedIn.

The programme rolled out on September 8 across Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines. The news builds on ShopeeVIP, the loyalty programme Shopee introduced across the region last year.

Subscribers get a Netflix Mobile Plan bundled into their ShopeeVIP+ subscription.

They can also upgrade to Netflix’s Basic, Standard or Premium tiers for wider access. This includes higher video quality and simultaneous streaming across more devices.

The subscription also includes unlimited free instant delivery and daily discount vouchers, according to Investing.com.

Pricing and perks vary by market. In Indonesia, ShopeeVIP+ starts from Rp 40,000 a month, Liputan6 reported.

In the Philippines, it starts from PHP 140 a month for a multi-month plan, or PHP 169 for a single month. Existing ShopeeVIP members can upgrade for an additional PHP 41 a month.

The Philippines bundle also layers in perks from other partners, including Canva Pro, ChatGPT Go and Duolingo.

It adds daily and monthly vouchers for an extra 20% off, daily free shipping with no minimum spend, and SPayLater at 0% interest for three months, according to Context.ph.

“We’re excited to collaborate with Shopee through ShopeeVIP+, bringing together Netflix’s world-leading entertainment offering with Shopee’s strength in delivering everyday value,” said Tizar Patria Irsyadi, Netflix’s Head of Business Development and Partnerships for Southeast Asia.

“This is Netflix’s first e-commerce partnership in Southeast Asia, and it reflects our focus on building long-term relationships that deliver meaningful value for consumers.”

Daniel Minardi, Director of Business Partnership at Shopee Indonesia, said the collaboration reflects Shopee and Netflix’s shared commitment to bringing added value to users.

He added that this extends across Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines, according to Portal Pantura.

Shopee’s Head of Commercial in the Philippines, Jack Ng, said the company is always looking for ways to bring the best value to shoppers.

Jack told GadgetsMagazine that the Netflix tie-up gives ShopeeVIP+ a reason to stay relevant to members even between shopping trips.
